Within New Jersey Eastern Star’s sub-acute and rehabilitation services, clinical professionals monitor the progress of patients and adjust treatment as necessary.
Our therapists help strengthen patients after a hospital stay whether for injury, a fall, or an illness so they can achieve their individual goals and return to their prior level of function. The facility offers an intimate setting “conducive to recovery” that becomes a home away from home.
While an ER or hospital admission might be required in certain situations, many treatments can be accomplished on-site for our residents. Healthcare providers may reference the list below to determine whether or not a hospital admission is necessary.
When a patient visits New Jersey Eastern Star Rehabilitation and Nursing for sub-acute rehabilitation, our licensed therapists and physicians review their medical history to develop an individualized treatment plan. We prioritize each patient’s goals to focus on returning to prior level of function. These goals are assessed and adjusted continually based on patient’s progress.
During recovery from a surgery, or if a resident becomes ill, our clinical team handles the majority of the treatments right on-site, keeping your loved one comfortable in their own space. Our pharmacy processes any necessary prescriptions, and patient required nursing services continue after a hospitalization.
Patients and residents come to us for therapy due to surgeries, injuries, or a decrease in mobility. In physical therapy, we use strength and endurance exercises to promote healing. Our occupational therapists help each patient or resident participate fully in their daily tasks so they can live as independently as possible within their current home. Speech therapists develop treatment plans after evaluation of swallowing functions and communication, as well as perform cognitive assessments.
Our therapists also use techniques such as ultrasound and electrical stimulation to complete treatment plans. This advanced technology helps reduce inflammation and pain involved with muscle function, helping patients reach their recovery goals.
We recognize that independence comes not only through complete treatment, but also through restoration of self-esteem and dignity.
