Stroke Recovery

After a stroke, you may experience loss of mobility, paralysis, weakness, memory or cognitive issues, emotional irregularities, speech problems, numbness or pain, trouble chewing and swallowing, incontinence, and other challenges.

The foundation of our program is therapies designed to help relearn skills such as movement, speech, strength, and daily living skills.

We help patients regain lost motor skills and incorporate assistive devices, if needed, to return to a full and independent life.



New Jersey Eastern Star Rehabilitation and Nursing’s orthopedic rehabilitation program offers therapeutic options for those recovering from trauma, illness, or surgery, or experiencing any problems with musculoskeletal function. This might include arthritis, osteoporosis, broken bones, hip, knee, or shoulder replacements, stroke, and others.

Each orthopedic rehab program varies depending on the patient, their conditions, and their goals. In each case, our multidisciplinary team of therapists and physicians create a patient centered treatment plan that adapts along with your recovery.

Our evidence-based approach addresses the entire person, not just the condition. Physical therapists work to restore strength, flexibility, mobility, and function. Occupational therapist focuses on mastering daily living skills such as bathing, dressing, or cooking. They may work on developing strength and dexterity in your hands. Speech Pathologists focus on advancing recovery in areas of swallow/cognitive and communication skills.
